Important People Involved with the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain
General Joseph Eggleston Johnston: Johnston was the Confederate General at the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain. He was a Virginia native and a graduate of West Point. Johnston won many significant battle and was considered by some, more capable than Lee.
General William Tecumseh Sherman: Sherman is Ulysses S. Grant's right hand man. Grant promoted Sherman to commander of all the troops in the Western Theatre, and he began to wage warfare that would put him in all of the history books. He was sent on a campaign through Tennessee to Georgia and back up through the Carolina's.
General John Bell Hood: John Bell Hood was Johnston's successor. After the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain, Johnston was fired and Hood took his place. He had a battle strategy that sounded good in theory, but did not work very well in action. Hood was planning on destroying the Union supply lines through northern Georgia and Tennessee and later meeting Sherman face to face but was stopped by Oliver Howard.
General Oliver Howard: Howard became the Tennessee general replacing John Logan, who was the current general in Tennessee. He stopped Hood from destroying Union supply lines and overall stopped him from completing his master plan.
